This is a hidden gem in Niagara Falls!! It's definitely a Las Vegas caliber production performed by a world class magician/illusionist. My kids LOVED it! There are live tigers, exotic birds, fire and water effects, dancers, and a well-produced show with lights and sound that far exceed what we're used to around here.
Location: Greg Frewin Theatre http://www.gregfrewintheatre.com/
Cost: Expect to pay around $150 for 4-6 seats (Unless you have a Groupon, more on that below)
Seating: I strongly recommend getting the U-shaped booth, because it gives kids a little room to move and your own space. Plus, you'll sit a little higher than those in front of you, guaranteeing that your kiddos won't have an obstructed view. I recommend level 2, table 40 (in particular) because something special happens near that table during the show.
Dinner/Appetizers: The theatre has a buffet dinner you can purchase on-site. It looked yummy The food menu (to eat right at your table) seemed much more reasonably priced than I was expecting. We eat at the Denny's around the block before the show, but wished we had eaten at the theatre instead (because the prices were pretty much the same).
Drinks: There are wine, beer and cocktail selections for purchase before and during the show. I found that the mixed drinks (ex. martinis) were reasonably priced, given the venue. Also, there are special non-alcoholic drinks for the kids like slushies and fancy chocolate milkshake-type creations. We splurged on these for the kids and don't regret it!
Snacks: They sell popcorn, candy, etc. also if you just want munchies and not a full blown meal or appetizer.
Parking: FREE
Pictures and other "add-ons": They will not let you take pictures during the performance. Also, you can get your pictures taken with live tigers (safely, believe it or not) but those pics are for purchase at the gift shop. The magician will also sign autographs in the lobby after the show at no extra charge.
Want to be part of the show? Here's how! When we went, there were quite a few birthday parties and even a full bachelorette party. If you tell them in advance, they'll project messages like "Happy Birthday Bob!" on the screen before the show.
Tip: Bring a $100 bill (US dollars) with you. I can't tell you why, but you'll WANT to do this. (Thank me later!)
Ways to Save Money: You can find tickets to the show on Groupon. However, when I tried it, the Groupn was hard to use. It only applies to a specific section at the back of the theatre and it's usually sold out. Another handy tip is to pack M&Ms, twizzlers, etc. in your bag before you go in the theatre. They sell them there for a fee, but we kept our treats on the "down low" and no one seemed to care.
WARNING for Parents: The show is LOUD!!!! I brought headphones for my 5 and 6 year old. Both have sensory issues. If I hadn't brought the headphones, we wouldn't have been able to enjoy the show.
