Head north to Lewiston for a nice day trip! Discover Artpark, Jet Boat tours, and so much more!
Artpark -- This a fun place to visit when the weather is warm! You can check out local artists, kids can take part in (often FREE) hands-on art activities, and the repertory theater folks are wandering around putting on live performances. Check their website, click "family" on the ribbon, and select "Free Family Saturdays" https://www.artpark.net/ Free Family Saturdays info won't be available until closer to the summer, though, but keep the link handy!
Dicamillo Bakery: If you're here in the summer, you'll need to stop for this special treat. They sell ice cream sandwiches that are out of this world! Picture it -- rich ice cream between 2 freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Yumm.... https://www.dicamillobakerybuffaloniagara.com/
Lewiston Art Festival: If your kids are into art festivals, this one is more kid-friendly than the ones on Delaware and Elmwood Avenues in Buffalo. Strollers, dogs, etc. have plenty of space to move without being jam-packed in a sea of foot traffic. https://artcouncil.org/art-festival/
Old Fort Niagara: They have historical tours throughout the year, but the BEST time to visit is during the re-enactments! They have highly-trained history-buffs dressed in period attire and it's like entering a time machine! You can see the tents, what people ate during the time, how they talked, and even watch the battle happening right before your eyes! Check out their website for the calendar of events. https://www.oldfortniagara.org/
Where to Eat:
Brickyard Brewing Company - Although they don't have a kids menu, they do have a great patio and fantastic BBQ style food. http://brickyardbrewingcompany.com/
The Silo Restaurant - Very casual, outdoor restaurant with patio seating and beautiful views of the Niagara River and boats. They have a kids menu. After dinner, take a nice walk along the river (there are porch swings to entertain the kids, too). https://www.lewistonsilo.com/
Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours: https://www.whirlpooljet.com/ You WILL get wet!
