Buffalo summers are the BEST! Most parents take a few days off work to spend with their kids. But, how do you maximize the fun? Here are some of our favorite things to do:
Fun on the Water: Rent a canoe, life jackets and paddles and canoe at Ellicott Creek Park (http://pathspeakspaddles.com/), visit the FREE splash pad at Oppenheimer Park
Fun on the Move: Billy Wilson Park and Buffalo Harbor State Park are our favorite playgrounds. We love hiking at Stiglmeier Park, too!
Canalside: There are quite a few fun things for kids to do along the downtown Buffalo waterfront! If you check out their calendar, Explore & More and Young Audiences come and provide free activities for kids. So, come for an afternoon, enjoy the music and craft activities, play in the sandbox, grab an ice cream cone, and stroll along the boardwalk. There are also kayaks, paddle boats and water bikes to rent (for older kids).
Artpark: Check out their summer schedule for Saturdays. They often have special make & create days (FREE), which is definitely worth the drive.
Fruit Picking: My kids loved picking strawberries! This was great for younger kids because the strawberries are low tot he ground and easy to reach.
Other activities worth a visit: Erie County Fair, Fantasy Island (for little kids) or Darien Lake (for older kids), Buffalo Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Delaware Park,
